Welcome

Thank you for visiting my site.
I hope you will enjoy the whimsical images and appreciate my style with figure drawings and portraits.

The first creative project I remember was a papier mache duck puppet that I made with my grandma when I was maybe three or four years old.  (Wish I had it, or a photo.)  Throughout my growing-up years, I was busy drawing, sculpting, or creating with fabric.  My parents, classmates and teachers always called me an "artist".  When I went to college, I majored in General Art, which included classes in two- and three-dimensional design, working with clay, wood, metal and fiber, and my favorites … life drawing, rendering, and illustration.
After completing my BA, I went on with schooling to earn a teaching credential and PhD in Educational Foundations.  And then I devoted nearly four decades to my family and career as an educator, still being creative with craft projects, although I seldom drew anything, except occasionally pictures for children.
     At
retirement, I decided to "reinvent" myself as an artist, and I've had a wonderful time!  I began in the spring of 2011, doing pen and ink illustrations for two children's books, Songs for Bears - A Tale of Goldilocks and The Puppet Explained.  I started painting with acrylics in 2012.  These days, I particularly enjoy doing whimsical paintings and figure drawings.

This is my most recent painting, titled "Bonding".  It's yet to be properly photographed.
